I know there are touring companies that charge like 3,000 US and up to take boats/ships from the tip of Chile. Are their cheaper alternatives? Anyone have experience actually doing these alternatives?
And no, I don't plan on renting my own boat or doing something dumb like that.

The cheapest way is to get a job at McMurdo. It is not easy though.
